BAMI-I & Purdue CEM Successfully Hosted Workshop on Vitrified Clay Pipe for Gravity Sanitary Sewer

Date: November 30, 2023

Location: Purdue Graduate Student Center (PGSC)

Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting an inspiring Clay Pipe Workshop aimed at providing comprehensive knowledge of Vitrified Clay Pipe systems to buried asset managers and professionals in related industries. This is the third successful workshop held following the PPI workshop and PVC workshop. We sincerely appreciate Mr. Jeff Boschert’s training, which had a profound impact on all participants, including Purdue students and industry professionals.

Jeff’s lecture primarily covered the following topics:

  • Rigid Pipe (VCP) Design, Installation/Inspection, Field Repairs, and Tapping
  • Gravity Sewer Operations/Maintenance and CCTV Inspection Analysis
  • Trenchless Installation Applications (direct jack VCP)
  • Gravity Sanitary Sewer Pipe Material Comparison

Asset managers responsible for buried assets need to comprehend all aspects of buried asset management, from material selection, design, construction, all the way to maintenance and retirement. Every stage of the asset’s lifecycle is crucial. Therefore, our series of workshops at Purdue University aims to provide essential knowledge and support to asset managers, enabling them to better manage and maintain underground assets.

This workshop not only provided valuable insights to attendees but also underscored the significance of knowledge sharing and continuous learning. We are committed to advancing the field of buried asset management and will continue to offer support and resources for the industry’s future.
